Recently arrived in Annecy, Montaine. R is a painter. Her work is imbued with reverie, gentleness and poetry, reflecting her sensitive universe and her desire for balance and harmony.
From small formats on paper to large canvases, her abstract painting expresses itself in delicate watercolors which invites contemplation and evasion.
In residence in our house, we are delighted to present you Montaine R. through this interview in which she describes her inspirations and home.
“I grew up in a family of artists. After studying art philosophy and working for fifteen years in the image department of LVMH and CHANEL, I turned to painting more than 5 years ago, thanks to wonderful encounters with clients, collectors and gallery owners”.
“Light, colours and the sky inspire me. What’s important to me in my work is the freedom I have when I paint. That’s what I’m looking for in the first place: freedom as possible.”
“After searching for an absolute… I realise that “home” can be anywhere, as long as you are well surrounded. The people you love, the beauty of objects, their history, the paintings you’ve collected with your heart, the memories in everything.”
“An ideal home for me gives plenty of room for light with warm but soft colors and the sky and nature at every window!”
“I grew up and spent all my life in Paris, and I’ve been living with a man from Savoie for over 12 years. We met in Paris and he made me discover his region, and I – too – fell in love with it. Annecy is a city with a natural setting that I’ve never seen anywhere else: the lake, its colours, the view of the mountains… and it’s a dynamic, international city: that’s also what attracted me.”
